At 10 a.m. and 2 p.m., Megan Dukett, Education Manager for the Mission, will lead two interactive workshops for children on Games of the 1860s. At 11 a.m., Kevin Jones, costume curator for the Fashion Institute of Design & Merchandising, will present a lecture and PowerPoint presentation, Darkly Adorned: Mourning and the Civil War. At 12 p.m., children's author and illustrator, Karen B. Winnick, will present her book Mr. Lincoln's Whiskers, which is based on a true story, followed by a slideshow on her historical research. At 1 p.m., Martha Morrison, an expert on American quilts and textiles, will present The Threads of Truth, Honoring the Creators of American Quilts. The day will also feature Living History portrayers in 19th century attire and a display of sample baked goods from Civil War recipe books.
