The Mission Preservation Foundation will present its 2011 Romance of the Mission benefit gala on Friday, September 16, 2011 featuring a concert in the Ruins of the Great Stone Church with two time Grammy nominee, baritone and actor Rod Gilfry.Gilfry will perform a variety of both standard and classical vocal selections at the annual fundraiser benefitting the Mission Preservation Foundation. The Reverend Monsignor Arthur A. Holquin is this year’s honorary chair and net proceeds will support the Gate House Preservation Project and traveling exhibits.
The unique black tie affair begins at 6:00 p.m. with a cocktail reception in the Mission’s lush front gardens, followed by the concert then dinner in the Main Courtyard. Mission San Juan Capistrano’s long-time community partner The Ritz-Carlton, Laguna Niguel will provide a plated four-course candlelight dinner accompanied by wine pairings from Ignatius Cellars, Clare Valley South Australia, compliments of The Thomas and Erma Jean Tracy Family Foundation.
Performer Rod Gilfry is a graduate of California State University, Fullerton and a faculty member in voice for the Thornton School of Music at the University of Southern California. The acclaimed recitalist, concert and opera artist appears frequently in musical theater classics most recently performed the title role in Sondheim’s Sweeney Todd at the Théâtre du Châtelet in Paris.
