Staying Emotionally Healthy as we Age

“Staying Emotionally Healthy as we Age” is about paying attention to our spirit – and that places a focus on depression, an illness that affects mind, body and spirit. It’s not part of normal aging. Why is this important? Suicide is often an outcome of depression and suicide rates are increasing – especially in older age ranges.
What does depression look like? Why does it happen? What are the signs of suicide risk? What are the treatments for depression? This program will help you answer some of those questions.
Our presenter is Cordula Dick-Muehlke, Ph.D., a consultant in aging and dementia and licensed psychologist affiliated with Hoag Presbyterian Ministries, who has dedicated the past 34 years to understanding depression and to bettering the lives of people with Alzheimer’s disease or another dementia and their families. Well-known for her expertise, she founded Cordula Cares in 2014.
